11 RIYAL TO THE GRAND MOSQUE

An Uber driver is here

Wednesday, 24 November 2021.
Doha, Qatar.

This evening, I booked Uber to Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab mosque.

The Uber driver is using Toyota Rush.
And the new plastic are still intact inside the car.

RIDING UBER TO AL MUNTAZAH AND MSHEIREB

Today afternoon, my coworkers and me are going out together for lunch.

We're going to Mama Rozie restaurant at al Muntazah Doha.

Since I dont have internet data on my phone.
So, my friends were booking Ubers.

After lunch, we try to find another cafe.
Unfortunately, we were lost in translation.
So, we've decided to find cafe at Msheireb downtown.

TAKING UBER FROM AL HAZM MALL

Well, today is my training final day.

The company driver picked me up at the training center at 4pm.

While I was eager to ask him to send me to the Al-Hazm mall right away.
But he seemed misunderstood me.
Even we saw the mall from far away, he made a detour and try to go to my apartment.
I got angry at him and he returned back and sent me to the mall.
He dropped me at the other side of the mall and I needed to walk to the front gate.

Nothing much on  the luxury mall, al-Hazm mall.

Later, I booked an Uber.
Toyota Camry again back to my apartment.
I think his name is Sayyed (above pic) with long white robe.

The fare was 14 riyal.

DRIVER TO THE TRAINING CENTER

Today is my second day training.

There was a miscommunication between the company and the agency.

Therefore, I was late to the training  center  this afternoon.

At first, the company informed the agency to send a driver  at 11.45am.
But due to the late calling, the driver (an African guy) arrived at the hotel lobby.
He was  there trying to reach me without knowing my full name as requested by the receptionist.
It was an hour wasting time.
He was driving an MPV.

In the evening, after completing today's course.
The company driver was fetching me up.
While on the road, I asked him to send me to the al Hazm shopping mall.
But the company guy already waiting for him at the hotel.

BAD TRAFFIC JAM IN DOHA CITY

Today is my training day.
For preparation going to offshore.

In the morning, I was picked up by SJT.
SJT is the company driver.
From the hotel to the training center should take about 30minutes.
But he needed to pickup another guy (SBS) at Raddison Blu.

The whole journey is more than 1 hour now because we needed to go to through rush hour traffic.

In the evening, I was picked by another driver.
I didnt his name.
This time it took us about 40 minutes, not including my waiting time at the training center.

GOING TO CORNICHE

Yesterday, I couldn't get into the Imam Muhammad bin AbdulWahhab Mosque.
Also, I cannot manage to visit the Calligraphy sculpture on the Corniche beach.

So this morning I decided to take an Uber.
Toyota Camry with fare of 12 riyal.

UBER TO GRAND MOSQUE, BUT

I planned to go to the grand mosque.
Imam Muhammad bin AbdulWahhab Mosque.
I boooked Uber from the McD restaurant after having my meal.
From the City Center mall to the mosque about 4km in 12 minutes.
The car is Kia Rio.

And the fare is QAR11.51, but I geve him QAR12.

However when we arrived at the front gate, the guard wont allow me to go in.
After arguing also no use.
I asked the driver to send me back to town.
But he already got booked.
So I walked out.

FIRST TIME USING DOHA UBER

So today I plan to go to Katara Twin Towers at the north side.

I booked Uber using the apps from the hotel wifi.
15.58 riyal, rounding it up to 16 Riyal cash.

The driver name is Md only.
He spoke using his earphone all the way to the destination.
Toyota Camry it was.

While on the way back.
I couldnt use my handphone due to no data.
Initially I plan I would walk to the nearest metro station.
Which is Legtaifiya station, about 2.5km from the twin towers.
But after arriving at the station.
The young male african security guard hold me up.
He said the station is not open until 2pm.
Because today is Friday.
Normally, it starts at 6am.

He told me to request Uber.
But Unfortunately, I dont have data on my cellphone.
And he dont have a smartphone too.

Therefore, I decided to walk all the way to my apartment.
It was a long way walking, ie 9km from Katara Twin Towers to my apartment.

It's a really lesson learned.
Never walk out on Friday morning!

I FOUND UBER

It's been 2 weeks since I landed here in Doha city.
Although I've installed the Uber apps, but I never used it yet.

While checking on travel from my apartment to Villagio mall.
I have found out that it's much cheaper to take a metro train.

MY COMPANY CHAUFFEUR

Today is the last day my 10 days hotel quarantine in Doha.

The company provides me the apartment to stay.
The company jockey guy already arranged the apartment.
I plan to take an Uber.
But the jockey guy informed that the chauffeur is coming to pick me up from the current hotel.

The chauffer called me.
He spoke not very clear which I mistook him to be nearby the hotel very soon.
But it took him almost half an hour for me waiting at the basement lobby.

Anyway, I managed to check in the apartment, sharing with the other engineer.

FIRST DAY IN DOHA

So today I arrive in Doha, Qatar..
I will be quarantined in Mondrian Hotel for 10 days.

Upon exiting the airport terminal, I was waiting with the rest of other passengers for taxis.
It's a bit of chaos as the taxi operator try to segregate family passengers to Innova.
And single passenger to smaller car.
Even the smaller car is using a Camry.

I got this black driver.
Thin and young man.
We never talked.

The traffic jam in Doha downtown is also quite heavy.

Since this trip is being paid by my company, so I'm not done anything.
The driver dropped me off at the hotel basement lobby.

Note. I will update this blog for my experience using taxi or ehailing.
Keep tune guys.

YOU NEED TO HAVE HONDA TO GET PERFECT RATING?

Today I need to use a Grab since I dont have any car available.

I booked a Grab from bukit belacan going to Ampang Point.
A young guy driving silver Honda City picked me up.
Not much talking.
Only saying he's staying in Subang.
And he's not familiar with the area.

Looking at his profile, he's got perfect 5 star since he's joing in 2018.
It's quite impressive.
I'm just wondering how he maintain that excellent rating.

The fare was rm9.35 by Grabpay.

TO THE MALL DURING COVID 19

So today, I sent my two cars to the Perodua Service Center in Johor Jaya.
Instead of waiting for 4 hours at the service center, I've decided to go to the nearest shopping mall with my daughter.

DRIVER #1
The fare is rm6.35.
A Malay young man with his Honda City (Grey).
He wouldn't allow me to sit infront. Lajiao lah.

DRIVER #2
The fare is higher due to higher demand. RM11.35 - fakyewlah Grab.
A Chinese driver with his silver Bezza.
