"Why are you taking the photo?" |
Thursday, 12 January 2017.
It's been a month since I updated this diary. So sorry, I am quite busy with the current job.
This afternoon, after sending my car to the workshop in Permas Jaya for overdue service and shock absorber replacement, I decided to call for an Uber or Grabcar to go back to the office.
At first I checked the Uber rider apps, and it showed the fare range between rm12 to rm17. Then I checked the Grabcar rider apps and it showed me the fare is fixed at rm15. So I decided to choose the Uber driver. He came in 5 minutes with a rating of 4.22 star! Aiyah! I was wondering what happened to this bad driver whose star rating was very very low. He should be banned from driving Uber! Later I would find out the reason.
This uncle was driving an old black myvi. I opened the passenger front door and sat next to him. The registration plat was WBP**** and he was wearing short pant and a chappal. I dont know about you, dear diary. But I dont feel comfortable to see a driver wearing chinchai. I dont mean the driver should wear a tuxedo and a tie. He said he just 2 weeks driving Uber in JB and before this he was driving in KL. He is not a Grabcar driver, eventhough he reckoned that Grabcar is paying better. I asked him why he dont drive in KL with a better tambang. He said he is a retired banker for 9 years already and had to follow his wife to settle down here in JB. Good lah.
While we were talking and talking, I had an urgency to take a photo of him driving. Unfortunately, I forgot to mute my iphone. Aiyah! This uncle was quite shocked and felt uncomfortable. He scolded me, "why you take my photo?" Pundenale la uncle. I felt scared too but not chicken. I just ignored him and talked other things. See dear diary, a driver should not scold a rider for whatever reason if dont want to get poor rating.
Well my dear diary, the trip was 11.18 minutes for 10.53km. He just dropped me outside the company gate as I told him. When asked, he told me the fare was rm9.10. Which is far below the range estimated by the Uber apps just now, which I showed him the shortcut instead of blindly follow the dumb Waze. I gave him rm10 and asked him to keep the change. From his face reaction I reckon he appreciated me very much.
Later while waiting for wife to pick me up from inside the company yard, suddenly I got an email from Uber to rate the driver. With no mercy due to the uneasy experience on the trip, I gave him 2 star only.
Updated note. I posted this entry yesterday on Uber & Grabcar drivers FB group wall and got many flames back from mostly the DRIVERS. Some of them wanted to VIRAL my family photos although I never showed the driver photo himself or disclosed his personal identity. Tit for a tat eh bro? Why not viral my KEPALA LUTUT then? OTL. Some of them called me BODOH. You know bro, only STUPID people call people STUPID. Dear diary, what I wanted to share is a RIDER experience which some ego DRIVERS cannot understand why sometimes they got bad ratings. I rest my case. Selamat memandu. Hati-hati dijalanraya.
