GRAB KL 2017

Saturday, 19 August 2017.

I sent my car to the Mercedes workshop at Jalan Ampang Kiri, infront of Risda building.

10.04am, book uncle HOY driving Bezza going to Ampang Park. He started driving for 4 months already. His new Bezza looks new and clean. He used to work at furniture company as an installer. I have not been to this Jalan Ampang for more than 6 months already and saw a new construction being in progress on jalan Jelatek junction, infront of Great Eastern building. About his experience as a Grab driver, he said he drives only 10 hours per day until 8pm everyday which will earn him net monthly income of RM4k roughly. He used to drive Uber but not anymore since Uber fare is too low for a driver to make a profit. I agreed. The fare for this ride was RM8, minus RM5 promocode, so I paid only RM3.

10.40am, booking MHM from Ampang Park to my home at Bukit Belacan. MHM driving a yellow myvi. He is driving Grab as partime job. His fulltime job is personal driver. I asked him to stop at the Mercedes workshop to collect somethings. He is not familiar with this area of Jalan Ampang since he resides at Kajang. The fare was RM11, minus RM5 promocode, so I paid only RM6.

Then in the afternoon, my daughter asked me how to book an Uber from Sunway Pyramid to a nearby shop bcoz she got exhibition activity there. She cannot use Grab apps anymore bcoz she was banned following my case as a driver last year. Fookyew lah Grab. Surprisingly, the Uber apps got an option to book driver in advance, ie schedule ride. Life is so easy now.

GRAB MORE FUN IN KUCHING

Saturday, 5 August 2017. So I was a rider for the weekend by happily using Grab promo code, GRABMOREFUN worth RM7 from 9am until 9pm. The Uber fare is much higher here and no promo. The fact is Grab fare is much lower than Uber's and got promotion too.

7.26am, Kuching International airport to Century hotel. Grabcar driver, HKL, RM4 no promo, bcoz the promo starts at 9am until 9pm. HKL is a policeman and drive partime only.

11.00am, LO pickup at Century hotel to One TJ mall. Free ride.

11.29am, One TJ Mall to Serikin Border Market. HAD, Grabcar with promo code: GRABMOREFUN. RM41 got RM7 discount so became RM37. Ask the driver to wait for one hour at the border market. Before returning to hotel, the driver sent me to Tasik Biru Bau. Total fare RM100 plus tip, return.

6.22pm, JAM pickup at Century Hotel to King Lalapan, Kota Sentosa. Free ride.

7.22pm, KSL pickup at the restaurant going to City One Mall, but later I changed my mind going to The Spring. Fare is rm2 after promo, but I gave the driver a rm5 tip. Okay lah.

10.40pm, SAF with his Triton pickup at The Spring sending back to the hotel.

Sunday, 6 August 2017. Last day in Kuching.

7.44am, AHM pickup at the hotel going to Mom's Laksa Cafe. The fare is rm9. When checking with Uber apps, the Uber fare is rm11. AHM is an elder driver, a teacher,  his wife is a doctor, and they got sons who are still studying in Newcastle Nusajaya.

8.30am, LO pickup at Mom's Laksa cafe to the Cats Statue infront of Grand Margherita.This uncle seems blurred when I said going to the Cats Statue and he was not amused and kept saying "Cats Museum atas bukit". Aiyah. The fare is rm5. Still not yet promo.

9.44am, KLQ pickup at the Waterfront going back to the Century Hotel. RM2 fare.

1.22pm, JAM from nearby office, pickup with his Camry at the hotel going to Vivacity Megamall.  The fare is RM2.

3.09pm, CHA pickup at the megamall sending to India Street for RM1 fare. The apps showing that his car is white which I cannot find after arriving. Actually his car is black. Aiyah.

4.33pm, NAZ was at the roadside when I booked her to pickup at the Waterfront. I thought the tomboy lady driver was a bro! Ha ha ha. Before hopped in her Vios car, I snapped photo of her car. Then she asked, "why you take photo?" I just laughed. She got a dashcam on the rearview mirror and played a loud DVD music of Bruno Mars. After a while, I reckoned that she liked to talk and talk BIG too. She talked about her sick mom and wanted to buy bungalow house here. She got a house in KL already. She rather to have a Chinese neighborhood than Malay or Indian or "dan lain lain" race one. "I am not racist," she said. Nope, I replied, "kamu memang racist!" Bugima lah. Before dropping off, she advised me not to buy the popular Mira kek lapis. Hahaha. She sent me with her Vios to the Century Hotel. Later, I wanted to give her lower rating due to the loud music just now. But later on I changed my mind bcoz she lowered down the music volume and hence I gave her 5 star. I am not cruel rider after all. OTL

7.14pm, LUQ pickup at the hotel and sent me to the nearby airport. It is a free ride.

NO UBER AVAILABLE IN MASAI

This morning I try booking an Uber driver for sending my son to the Senai airport. But none available. Demm. So I turn on the Grab apps, it says the apps is outdated and needed to be downloaded. Aiyah. Fortunately, somehow I still can use the Grab apps. I see there are 2 Grab cars on the vicinity. So I book a driver with his Persona car. He came in about 5 minutes.

Dear diary, there are a big difference in fare for Uber (RM29) compare to Grab (RM47) from my house to the airport. That's why no Uber driver wants to exist this morning. However, when I switch on back the Uber apps at 6.06am, there is one Uber car on the apps, but it's too late. Maybe next time I wait a bit longer hah. Or can you the driver wake up earlier a bit? Dont be lazy lazy one mahh.
